Newlyweds should urgently have children: Stalin

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin's recent comments have sparked a debate not only among the people of the state but also across the country. Having previously promoted family planning , he has now taken everyone by surprise by showing interest in population growth. Speaking at a recent event in Nagapattinam, he said that the state's population needs to increase and suggested that newly married couples should have children soon. He also suggested that they give their children good Tamil names.

Redistribution of constituencies

He strongly opposes the central government's policy of determining the number of constituencies based on population. The state of Tamil Nadu has been encouraging family planning for the past few decades to curb population growth. But now, Stalin believes, the same policy is likely to cause the state to lose in terms of Lok Sabha seats.

Population proposal

The CM said that he himself, who had previously advised newly married couples to delay having children for a while, now the situation has changed and he feels it is his responsibility to want the Tamil population to increase. He also mentioned the same thing at a recent wedding. Now, speaking more clearly, he explained that the increase in the Tamil population is a must to avoid loss in terms of Lok Sabha seats.

Mixed reaction

He said that he is working to increase the population of the state and advised all newly married couples to have children immediately. He also said that they should give them good Tamil names . Everyone is shocked that the Chief Minister himself made these comments. While some are saying that they will have children immediately for the Lok Sabha seats, others are making comments saying that it is difficult.

All-party meeting

This is not the first time the Chief Minister has made such comments. The Chief Minister, who recently attended a wedding, made similar comments there as well.
